Fresh Ceramics in Neubau (Vienna) will be hosting a special masterclass with the talented ceramic artist Eugene Pokidaev. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a potter known for his creativity, technical skill and fearless approach to clay. Eugene enjoys pushing the limits of what can be done on the wheel and is equally passionate about sharing his knowledge with others. You can see his work on Instagram @pokidaeff.

About the teacher
Eugene Pokidaev has been working with ceramics since 2010 and has spent the past several years refining advanced wheel-throwing techniques while developing effective ways of teaching pottery to both beginners and experienced makers. In his teaching Eugene takes a very individual approach to each student. His goal is to help every participant move forward from wherever they currently are in their practice.

This means beginners will not feel overwhelmed, while more experienced potters will still feel challenged and engaged. If someone is still working on centering, Eugene will help them master this skill and start throwing their first stable cylinders. Participants with more experience will work with larger amounts of clay, improve the height and proportions of their forms, and explore more complex shapes.

About the masterclass
This three-day intensive is designed for potters who already have some basic experience on the wheel and want to deepen their skills.

Over three full days we will focus on technique, experimentation and creative exploration. The workshop emphasizes developing strong throwing fundamentals rather than producing finished pieces. Participants will spend many hours working directly at the wheel, practicing new techniques and receiving individual guidance from Eugene.

Because this workshop focuses on developing throwing skills, many pieces created during the week will be recycled so participants can continue practicing. If there are up to three pieces you would like to keep, they can be fired and glazed later at the studio membership rate.

The masterclass will end with a relaxed farewell drink where we celebrate the week together.
