Intensive Course – Summer Camp in Neubau *Five days of pottery fun
Booking Details
This intensive ceramics summer week offers children aged 9 to 13 a structured, creative, and screen-free holiday experience. Over five consecutive days, children work with clay in a calm, professional studio environment, strengthening concentration, fine motor skills, and creative confidence under the guidance of experienced ceramists.
Throughout the week, children follow a clear creative process — from the first idea to the finished ceramic object. They learn to work independently, develop patience and problem-solving skills, and experience the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands. The course takes place in our pleasantly climate-controlled studio in Neubau, providing a safe and comfortable working environment even on hot summer days.
What you will do
Over the course of the week, you will create your own ceramic pieces step by step with the support of our experienced ceramists. You will begin by working on the potter’s wheel — an exciting introduction to the world of clay — and gradually learn different hand-building techniques such as coil building, slab work, and pinch forms.
You will also learn how clay is recycled and explore simple decorative techniques for surface design. With a focus on form, texture, and the working process, you will create functional pieces such as cups, bowls, or vases, as well as free, personal works based on your own ideas.
Each child works with approximately 25 kg of clay during the week. All works intended for final production will be professionally fired and glazed by us after the course.
No previous experience required

friends or acquaintances. This way you can give them a nice experience and ensure that reserved spots do not go unused.
In case of a rescheduling or cancellation, you will find the corresponding instructions under the first question “How can I reschedule my course?”
Important: Rescheduling requests via email, phone, or in person cannot be accepted and are therefore invalid.
On the one hand, there is wheel throwing, where pieces are created on an electric pottery wheel. The objects created this way are characteristically round, symmetrical, and thin. On the other hand, there is hand-building and shaping the clay by hand at the worktable. This includes techniques such as coil building, pinch technique, and slab building. Here, you are not bound to the round base shape created by a wheel and can let your creativity run free.
However, shorter nails – as well as clothing that can get a little dirty – are an advantage. If some clay or glaze gets on your clothes despite the aprons, don’t worry, both can be easily washed out.
We keep already glazed course pieces on our pickup shelves for 3 months. After that, due to space constraints, they are sorted into monthly boxes where we can no longer guarantee the completeness or condition of the pieces. Every year before Christmas, we donate all remaining pieces that have stayed with us for more than a year to "Aktion Leben" to bring joy to someone else. :)
