If you would like to reserve a time slot for our Open Studio and have a ‘Monthly Pass’, simply use the code sent to you to secure a place. If you don’t have a ‘Monthly Pass’, that’s not a problem at all, you can simply reserve a place in our studio by the hour online right here.

What does our Open Studio cost?

– For your time in our studio:
€ 18.00 / 2 hours or enter your code for the ‘Monthly Pass’ (€ 6 / hour)
Please book an additional 2-hour slot if you plan to stay 4 hours.
Discount is valid for all online bookings in the Summer.

For clay, depending on the amount you use:

– € 2.00 / kg white stoneware clay
– € 2.50 / kg speckled stoneware clay (potter’s wheel or modelling)
– € 4.00 / kg grey stoneware clay (potter’s wheel or modelling)

For the firing costs:

€ 6.90 / kg (960°C / 1200°C) – for Monthly Pass holders
€ 11.90 / kg (960°C / 1200°C) – for everyone without a Monthly Pass
There is a service charge for pieces under 200g, depending on the size and nature of the pieces.

If you have never attended one of our glazing workshops before, you must make an appointment online for this workshop (additional glazing workshop) before you can come to the open studio to glaze independently. This costs a one-time fee of €29.00. After three weeks, you can then come to the studio to pick up your pieces independently. They will be ready for you.

What else should I know?
– The minimum time you can reserve is 2 hours
– You always have guaranteed access to our studios when you need them
– Extra-long opening hours
(Monday to Friday 9:00 – 20:00; Saturday 10:00 – 20:00)
– You have the opportunity to use all of our tools, machines and much more independently
– You can use our kitchen for coffee and tea
– You have plenty of space at our large wooden work tables
– The booking of the Open Studio is for 2 hours, after which you have another 15 minutes to tidy up.

Please don’t forget to make your Open Studio reservations online, as this is the only way we can always guarantee our community a place to work creatively.

FAQ:

How can I reschedule my appointment?

You can reschedule or cancel your appointment via the button "Reschedule, cancel or request a refund" in the course confirmation email. If you are unable to attend, we kindly ask you to change your booking as early as possible so that others have the opportunity to take your spot. Please note our rescheduling and cancellation policy for ceramic painting bookings.

What if I cannot attend my appointment?

In the case of a possible rescheduling or cancellation, you will find the corresponding instructions under the first question “How can I reschedule my appointment?”

Important: Rescheduling requests via email, phone, or in person cannot be accepted and are therefore invalid.

How can I book a slot?

All offers can only be booked online, directly via our website. The calendar under each course description shows you on which days how many spots are available for booking. Choose your preferred day and the respective number of participants and click on “Book Now”. This will add the booking to your cart, and in the next step you can complete the payment process.

How do I book a slot if I have a gift card?

The code can be entered during checkout after adding a booking and is also valid for both locations. If you have multiple voucher codes, you can enter and redeem them one after another.

Can my child work independently in the Open Studio?

Children or teenagers without prior experience may participate from the age of 12 if accompanied by an adult. Participants of our Summer Camp may attend the Open Studio independently without supervision from the age of 9.

Due to space and organizational reasons, we kindly ask accompanying persons to also book a spot for the same period.

Teenagers aged 16 and older may work independently.

Can I share my monthly pass with someone else?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. A monthly pass is intended for one person and cannot be shared.

How long is a monthly pass valid?

A monthly pass is valid for 30 days and will not be renewed automatically.

What should I bring to the Open Studio?

A portion of good mood :) We have everything else in our studio!

However, shorter nails – as well as clothing that can get a little dirty – are an advantage. If some clay or glaze gets on your clothes despite the aprons, don’t worry, both can easily be washed out.

When can I pick up my finished pieces & what happens if I forget them?

1. Greenware – 1 month
2. Bisque ware – 3 months
3. Glazed pieces – 3 months

Due to space limitations, we will then remove your finished pieces from the pickup shelf and sort them into boxes by month – you may need to search a little before you find your piece! After 3 months, we are no longer responsible for your pieces; if they are no longer here or break after this period has expired, unfortunately there is nothing we can do.

Every year before Christmas, we donate all remaining pieces to "Aktion Leben". Since we started doing this 2 years ago, we know that there are people there who truly appreciate handmade ceramics for personal use or as gifts. Your pieces would find new loving homes :)

Can my pieces be shipped to my home?

We are happy to send your masterpieces by post, no matter where you are in the EU. Deliveries outside the EU are not possible. Fees of the Austrian Post:

* Shipping within Austria (1–3 pieces*): €7.17
* Shipping to Germany (1–3 pieces*): €17.35
* Shipping within the EU (1–3 pieces*): €21.00

Additionally, packaging & service costs of €9.50 apply per package, as we pack each piece by hand and personally bring it to the post office to ensure it arrives safely :)

* medium-sized pieces such as mugs, bowls, plates, small vases. Large pieces such as vases, jugs, etc. are counted as 2 medium-sized pieces.

Can my pieces go in the dishwasher?

Your pieces are made of stoneware clay, if you use our studio clay. They are fired at 1200°C, making them vitrified afterwards and both dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.

I am not satisfied with the glaze result on my piece. Is it possible to reglaze it or receive a refund or compensation?

We understand that glaze results can sometimes be surprising. However, reglazing high-fired ceramic pieces is not possible in our studio, and therefore we do not offer this service.
Glazing in ceramics is inherently a variable process and cannot be fully controlled or exactly reproduced. Even when using the same glaze, the same clay, and the same firing schedule, the final result can vary from piece to piece. Many factors influence the outcome, including placement in the kiln, temperature fluctuations during firing, glaze thickness, the interaction between glaze and clay, as well as the overall kiln atmosphere. These variables are a natural part of working with handmade ceramics.
Due to this unpredictability, the appearance of the glaze is not considered a defect. For this reason, we do not offer refunds, reimbursements, or remakes based on glaze results or personal preferences.

What types of glazes are used in the studio?

In our Open Studio, you can work with underglazes as well as brush-on and dip stoneware glazes.
Underglazes allow you to paint directly onto raw, unfired pieces.
Stoneware glazes create beautiful surface effects. By varying layer thickness, application techniques, and layering different glazes on top of each other, a wide variety of color effects can be achieved. This makes it a small adventure every time your ceramics come fresh out of the kiln. You can also use our existing dipping glazes.

What types of clay do you offer in the studio?

We offer white, speckled, and black/brown clay. The grog content varies and ranges from 0–25%. We also have white clay without grog, which makes wheel throwing often easier.

Our clay prices:
White clay – € 2.00/kg
Speckled clay – € 2.50/kg
Black clay – € 4.00/kg

Can I use your firing service for pieces I made at home?

Generally yes, but during the Christmas season we do not offer this service because our course schedule is too full.
Another important requirement is that you know which materials were used and whether they are suitable for our firing temperatures. As confirmation, please show us a photo of the clay packaging including all information about firing temperatures and clay type. Otherwise, for safety reasons, we unfortunately cannot fire your ceramics in our kiln. We have:

* Bisque firing (1st firing): 960°C
* Low glaze firing (2nd firing): 1040°C
* High firing (2nd firing): 1200°C

The firing costs are €11.90 per kilo (€6.90 for members). For small pieces under 200g, there is an additional service fee per small piece of €1 for bisque firing and €2 for glaze firing.

If damage occurs to kiln shelves or the kiln due to incompatibility of the clay or glaze of your pieces, the repair costs must be covered by you.

If you want to fire a large number of pieces or require a different firing temperature, you can also rent an entire kiln for your projects (120 L). Feel free to contact us to discuss the details.

Why is our Open Studio no longer available on weekends?

It is still available, but only for holders of a monthly subscription. The studio is very busy on weekends and we want to give priority to our members. We apologize for the inconvenience!

I'm not happy with how the glaze turned out on my piece. Is it possible to reglaze it, or receive a refund or reimbursement?

We understand that glaze results can sometimes be surprising, but reglazing high-temperature fired pieces is not possible, and we do not offer reglazing or deglazing services.
