If you want to reserve a time slot for glazing your pieces for our open studio, you are in the right place! No matter whether you have a “Monthly Pass” or not. Only this 1-hour slot is valid for glazing. The “Monthly Pass” units are to be used exclusively for throwing or modeling.

If you have never attended one of our glazing workshops before, you must make an appointment online for this workshop (additional glazing workshop) before you can come to the Open Studio to glaze independently. This costs a one-time fee of 29.00 euros. After 3 weeks, you can then come to the studio to pick up your pieces independently. Your pieces will be ready then.

How can I book a slot?
All offers can only be booked online, directly via our website. The calendar under each course description shows you on which days how many spots are available for booking. How do I book a slot if I have a gift card?
The code can be entered during checkout after adding a booking and is also valid for both locations. If you have multiple voucher codes, you can enter and redeem them one after another.
How do I book a slot if I have a monthly pass?
After purchasing a monthly pass, we will send you a code via email that you can use to book your respective sessions. You can enter the code during checkout after adding a booking. After 3 months, we are no longer responsible for your pieces; if they are no longer here or break after this period has expired, unfortunately there is nothing we can do.
Every year before Christmas, we donate all remaining pieces to "Aktion Leben". Since we started doing this 2 years ago, we know that there are people there who truly appreciate handmade ceramics for personal use or as gifts. Your pieces would find new loving homes :)

Due to space limitations, we will then remove your finished pieces from the pickup shelf and sort them into boxes by month – you may need to search a little before you find your piece! Can my pieces be shipped to my home?
We are happy to send your masterpieces by post, no matter where you are in the EU. Deliveries outside the EU are not possible. Fees of the Austrian Post:
* Shipping within Austria (1–3 pieces*): €7.17
* Shipping to Germany (1–3 pieces*): €17.35
* Shipping within the EU (1–3 pieces*): €21.00
Additionally, packaging & service costs of €9.50 apply per package, as we pack each piece by hand and personally bring it to the post office to ensure it arrives safely :)
* medium-sized pieces such as mugs, bowls, plates, small vases. Large pieces such as vases, jugs, etc. are counted as 2 medium-sized pieces.

Can my pieces go in the dishwasher?
Your pieces are made of stoneware clay, if you use our studio clay. They are fired at 1200°C, making them vitrified afterwards and both dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.
I am not satisfied with the glaze result on my piece. Is it possible to reglaze it or receive a refund or compensation?
We understand that glaze results can sometimes be surprising. However, reglazing high-fired ceramic pieces is not possible in our studio, and therefore we do not offer this service.
Glazing in ceramics is inherently a variable process and cannot be fully controlled or exactly reproduced. Even when using the same glaze, the same clay, and the same firing schedule, the final result can vary from piece to piece. Many factors influence the outcome, including placement in the kiln, temperature fluctuations during firing, glaze thickness, the interaction between glaze and clay, as well as the overall kiln atmosphere. Underglazes allow you to paint directly onto raw, unfired pieces.
Stoneware glazes create beautiful surface effects. By varying layer thickness, application techniques, and layering different glazes on top of each other, a wide variety of color effects can be achieved. This makes it a small adventure every time your ceramics come fresh out of the kiln. You can also use our existing dipping glazes.
Underglazes allow you to paint directly onto raw, unfired pieces.
Stoneware glazes create beautiful surface effects. By varying layer thickness, application techniques, and layering different glazes on top of each other, a wide variety of color effects can be achieved. What types of clay do you offer in the studio?
We offer white, speckled, and black/brown clay. The grog content varies and ranges from 0–25%. We also have white clay without grog, which makes wheel throwing often easier.

Can I use your firing service for pieces I made at home?
Generally yes, but during the Christmas season we do not offer this service because our course schedule is too full.
Another important requirement is that you know which materials were used and whether they are suitable for our firing temperatures. As confirmation, please show us a photo of the clay packaging including all information about firing temperatures and clay type. Otherwise, for safety reasons, we unfortunately cannot fire your ceramics in our kiln. We have:

Underglazes allow you to paint directly onto raw, unfired pieces.
Stoneware glazes create beautiful surface effects. By varying layer thickness, application techniques, and layering different glazes on top of each other, a wide variety of color effects can be achieved. This makes it a small adventure every time your ceramics come fresh out of the kiln. You can also use our existing dipping glazes.
What types of clay do you offer in the studio?
We offer white, speckled, and black/brown clay. The grog content varies and ranges from 0–25%. We also have white clay without grog, which makes wheel throwing often easier.

Can I use your firing service for pieces I made at home?
Generally yes, but during the Christmas season we do not offer this service because our course schedule is too full.
Another important requirement is that you know which materials were used and whether they are suitable for our firing temperatures. As confirmation, please show us a photo of the clay packaging including all information about firing temperatures and clay type. Otherwise, for safety reasons, we unfortunately cannot fire your ceramics in our kiln. We have:
* Bisque firing (1st firing): 960°C
* Low glaze firing (2nd firing): 1040°C
* High firing (2nd firing): 1200°C
The firing costs are €11.90 per kilo (€6.90 for members). For small pieces under 200g, there is an additional service fee per small piece of €1 for bisque firing and €2 for glaze firing.
If damage occurs to kiln shelves or the kiln due to incompatibility of the clay or glaze of your pieces, the repair costs must be covered by you.
If you want to fire a large number of pieces or require a different firing temperature, you can also rent an entire kiln for your projects (120 L). Feel free to contact us to discuss the details.

Why is our Open Studio no longer available on weekends?
It is still available, but only for holders of a monthly subscription. The studio is very busy on weekends and we want to give priority to our members. We apologize for the inconvenience!
I'm not happy with how the glaze turned
out on my piece. Is it possible to reglaze it, or receive a refund or
reimbursement?
We understand that glaze results can
sometimes be surprising, but reglazing high-temperature fired pieces is
not possible, and we do not offer reglazing or deglazing services.
Glazing in pottery is an inherently variable process and cannot be fully controlled or replicated exactly. Even when the same glaze, clay body, and firing schedule are used, the final outcome can differ from piece to piece. Many factors influence the result, including kiln placement, temperature fluctuations during firing, glaze thickness, how the glaze interacts with the clay, and the overall kiln atmosphere. These variables are a natural part of working with handmade ceramics.
Because of this unpredictability, glaze appearance is not considered a defect. For this reason, we do not offer refunds, reimbursements or remakes based on glaze results or personal preference.
