Hugging Cups
Booking Details
A creative experience to share – and a pair of ceramic cups that will always belong together.
Slow down, enjoy a creative break together, and create a unique keepsake you’ll treasure for years to come. Whether you come as a couple, best friends, siblings, or simply two people who enjoy spending time together, Hugging Cups is a beautiful way to celebrate your connection.
During this 2.5-hour Modellierkurs, each of you will create your own ceramic cup. Before decorating, you’ll gently shape the two cups together so they naturally fit and “hug” each other, creating a unique pair that only truly belongs together.
Once your cups are shaped, explore colorful underglazes and decorative techniques to create two pieces that reflect your personalities. Experiment with painting, patterns, textures, and our exclusive ceramic silk-screen printing technique, available only in the Hugging Cups workshop. Choose matching colors, complementary designs, or completely different styles—the choice is yours.
After the workshop, we’ll professionally apply a transparent glaze and fire your cups twice. A few weeks later, you’ll collect two food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and microwave-safe ceramic cups that will always remind you of the special moment you created together.
Whether you’re celebrating a friendship, a relationship, or simply looking for a memorable creative experience, Hugging Cups is the perfect way to slow down, connect, and create something truly meaningful together.

After you're done working on your piece, we make sure the conditions are right for your piece to dry properly - after a day or two, we turn it upside down and write your initials on it. Depending on the thickness of your creation, it will take 3-10 days to dry completely. Once it's dry, we fire it at 960 degrees - reaching the proper temperature and cooling takes about 28 hours. After the initial "raw" firing, we dip your piece in the transparent glaze and place it in the kiln again - this time to fire at 1200 degrees. After another 36 hours, your piece is beautiful, shiny, very durable, and fully functional. You can now use it every day, put it in the dishwasher and be proud of yourself. :) In 2-3 weeks after your class, your piece is ready for a pickup. For an extra charge, we can also ship it to you wherever you are in the EU.
To glaze your pieces they must be fired once. This takes about two weeks. For this an additional appointment glazing workshop is required. At the end of your first course, you can purchase a voucher card including a voucher code for the glazing workshop on site and then book your appointment online.
You will have a selection of more than 45 glazes available. Many of the glazes develop color variations during firing and are therefore particularly suitable for larger surfaces. Smaller details may blur slightly. However, we offer alternative colors that are better suited for this.
In the case of a rescheduling or cancellation, you will find the corresponding instructions under the first question “How can I reschedule my course?”
Important: Rescheduling requests via email, phone or in person cannot be accepted and are therefore invalid.
On the one hand, there is wheel throwing, where pieces are created on the electric pottery wheel. The resulting objects are characteristically round, symmetrical and thin. On the other hand, there is modeling and shaping clay by hand at the worktable. This includes coiling, pinch technique and slab technique. Here you are not bound to the round base shape created by the wheel and can freely express your creativity.
However, shorter nails – and for pottery wheel courses also a hair tie for longer hair as well as clothes that may get a little dirty – are an advantage. If despite the aprons some clay or glaze gets onto your clothing, don’t worry, both can be easily washed out.
We keep already glazed course pieces in our pickup shelves for 3 months. After that, due to space limitations, they are sorted into monthly boxes where we can no longer guarantee completeness or condition. Every year before Christmas, we donate all remaining pieces that have been with us for more than one year to “Aktion Leben” to bring joy to someone else. :)
Shipping within Austria (1–3 pieces*): €7.17

An additional packaging & service fee of €9.50 applies per package, as we wrap each piece by hand and personally drop it off at the post office to ensure it arrives safely :)
