Are you looking for a place where you can come together as a family and experience something together? Or where you want to celebrate your child’s birthday? We offer you as a family or as a group of children the opportunity to discover together with us the world of hand modeling, making your own handmade ceramic piece in one of our two studios.
In this 2.5-hour course, you will perfect your own ceramic creation under the guidance of our experienced ceramists. It’s fun, cozy and everyone makes something! You will learn to make your own fully functional bowl. The unique offer of this course is that you will not only work on the shape of your ceramic piece, but also try out engobes – the special underglaze color that you can apply directly to the raw clay. This gives you endless possibilities to make your masterpiece the most amazing piece in the world: whether decorations with small flowers, hearts, stripes, vegetables… You can come up with your own ideas or be inspired by ours
Up to 12 children/adults can participate in this experience.
+ Course plan
To begin, we will show some ceramics for inspiration. Everyone can then decide individually whether to model a functional object, such as a cup, or a decorative piece, such as a figurine (~1,5 h).
During a short break (~30 min), which can be used to eat cake or unwrap gifts, we dry the ceramics so that it can be painted with engobes right away (~30 min).
+ Magic process
After letting the pieces dry for a few days after you have been with us, we fire them at 960 degrees Celsius in our kiln. This takes about 28 hours. Then, once the pottery has cooled, we dip it in transparent glaze to reveal the true colors of the engobes. Now we fire the pieces again in the kiln – this time at 1200 degrees to make them shiny, durable, food safe and dishwasher safe. This process takes another 36 hours.
After approx. 3 weeks, your pieces will be ready for collection from the respective studio.

This class is ideal for ALL ceramic beginners 6+.
+ Class duration – 2h Saturday, 2,5h Friday

Private events, including Kindergeburtstage, are reserved exclusively for your group. Once a booking is confirmed, the regular course scheduled for that time is closed to ensure a truly private and dedicated experience. For this reason, cancellations or rescheduling are not possible after booking. We kindly ask you to choose your date and time carefully before completing your reservation.
Once you are happy with the design of your work, we will make sure that your ceramic dries properly. After one or two days, your pieces are turned upside down to dry completely. At the same time, we will retouch and label them.
Depending on the thickness of your creation, it can take 5 - 8 days before they are ready for the kiln. They are then fired at 960 degrees in the kiln. Reaching this temperature and slow cooling takes up to 28 hours. Once the first firing is complete, you will glaze the pieces with our high-temperature glazes on the second day of your course and then they will be placed in the kiln again, this time to be fired at 1200 degrees. After a further 36 hours, your piece is finished and can come out of the kiln. It is now durable and fully functional, which means you can now put it in the microwave and dishwasher.
In total, the ceramic pieces are ready for collection from the respective studio 3 weeks after the last day of the course. They are then sorted by surname on our shelves. Please come by during our opening hours and pick them up.
In the case of a rescheduling or cancellation, you will find the corresponding instructions under the first question “How can I reschedule my course?”
Important: Rescheduling requests via email, phone or in person cannot be accepted and are therefore invalid.
On the one hand, there is wheel throwing, where pieces are created on the electric pottery wheel. The resulting objects are characteristically round, symmetrical and thin. On the other hand, there is modeling and shaping clay by hand at the worktable. This includes coiling, pinch technique and slab technique. Here you are not bound to the round base shape created by the wheel and can freely express your creativity.
However, shorter nails – and for pottery wheel courses also a hair tie for longer hair as well as clothes that may get a little dirty – are an advantage. If despite the aprons some clay or glaze gets onto your clothing, don’t worry, both can be easily washed out
We keep already glazed course pieces in our pickup shelves for 3 months. After that, due to space limitations, they are sorted into monthly boxes where we can no longer guarantee completeness or condition. Every year before Christmas, we donate all remaining pieces that have been with us for more than one year to “Aktion Leben” to bring joy to someone else. :)
