Botanical Tiles (8+)

Discover the beauty of nature and create your own ceramic tiles using real leaves and plants.

The workshop consists of 2 sessions of 1.5 hours each and is perfect for anyone who would like to learn how to create unique ceramic tiles with natural botanical impressions. You will create 9 ceramic tiles measuring 10 × 10 cm each, with the option to work with a different tile size upon request. Using real leaves, grasses and plants, you will press their shapes and textures directly into the clay, creating delicate reliefs and individual pieces.

During the first session, you will create your own ceramic tiles and experiment with different plants, textures and compositions. We will show you how to work with leaves and plants in clay while preserving their natural shapes and fine details. The result is a series of unique botanical impressions, with each tile becoming its own little piece of art.

After the first session, the tiles need at least one week to dry before they are bisque-fired.

The second session is all about colour and surface decoration. You will learn different techniques to highlight the natural textures and details of your botanical impressions. Finally, you will glaze your tiles before they go into the kiln for their final firing.

Once finished, you can use your ceramic tiles in many different ways: display them individually as small artworks, use them as coasters or combine several tiles into a larger wall composition. You can also mount them on wood or incorporate them into future interior projects.

This way, the shapes and textures of nature become part of your own ceramic pieces – creating something you can enjoy in your home for years to come.

Level & Age: Beginners, from 8 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult for supervision. The accompanying adult does not have to participate in the workshop.
