Are you already familiar with the wheel and looking to solve recurring problems once and for all? With a maximum of only 6 participants, the course takes place in a small group setting, ensuring plenty of personal guidance and individual support

This course is designed for advanced potters who want to improve their technique to reach new heights. It is an advanced course for Open Studio members as well as graduates of the 5-week, 9-week, and three-day courses.

Your teacher Joseph comes from the Czech Republic, where he studied at the College of Pottery and Restoration and later earned a degree in Painting and Education at Masaryk University in Brno. He speaks English, German, and Czech. With his deep knowledge of form, materials, and artistic expression, Joseph brings the perfect balance of technical skill and artistic insight to the Advanced Pottery class, supporting students as they refine their technique and develop their own creative voice.

Course Program:

Day 1: Technique Check – We determine your current level and correct fundamental technique errors.

Day 2: Throwing Forms: We practice pulling up forms with different amounts of clay (pitchers and bowls).

Day 3: Free Production: Create according to your own preferences. Additional clay can be purchased for larger projects.

Day 4: Trimming and Assembling.

Day 5: Glazing with Wax Resist.

Five Thursdays in a row from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

+ Can I reschedule an appointment?
The course takes place on the same day, at the same time, for 5 consecutive weeks.
If you are unable to make it to an appointment, unfortunately we cannot offer make-up lessons. However, you can use our open studio for free for the time you missed and practice on your own. We are, of course, nearby if you have any questions. 🙂
