The “Spin, Trim & Decorate” course offers an all-around introduction to pottery in two consecutive days. You will both learn the techniques of wheel throwing, trimming, modeling, and painting. This course is suitable for beginners as well as intermediates who want to make bigger pieces.

Day 1 – wheel throwing: 2 h
On the first day you will be guided through the wheel throwing process step by step. Whether you want to make a mug, a little vase, or a bowl is up to you. Depending on size, you will make 1-2 pieces.

Day 2 – Trimming, attaching: 2 h
painting: 1 h
The following day is divided into three sections: First, you will learn how to trim the bottom into a nice foot. Second, you will make handles and little figures and learn how to attach them to your pieces. Third and finally, you will brush paint your pieces with engobe.

After all your work is done, we will let your master pieces dry till they are ready to be fired in the kiln at 960C. After this day your ceramics will be glazed transparent and high fired in the kiln at 1200C.

This course is ideal for anyone new to ceramics. If you want to come as a family, parents with children aged 12 and up are welcome.

When can I pick up my finished pieces, and what happens if I forget?

Your pieces are ready for pickup 3 weeks after your session.
Please collect them within 2 months.
After that, we store them by month... Note: We cannot take responsibility after 3 months.
Items not picked up may be donated to “Aktion Leben”.

Can someone else pick up my piece for me?

Yes, a friend can collect your work – just show a photo of your piece.
If you attended as a group, one person can pick up everything.
Just make sure they know your names and creations.

Can you ship my pieces to me?

We ship within the EU. Not outside. Rates:
Austria (1–3 pieces): €7.17
Germany (1–3 pieces): €17.35
Other EU countries: €21.00
+ €9.50 packaging & handling fee.
*Medium-sized items like cups/bowls. Larger ones count as two.

What is the price distribution for the multi-part pottery course?

Spin&Go (69 EUR, 1 session):
• 69 EUR for 1.5 hours of pottery on the wheel.

Spin&Glaze (105 EUR, 2 sessions):
• 80 EUR for 2 hours of pottery on the wheel
• 29 EUR for the glazing workshop.

Spin, Trim & Glaze (175 EUR, 3 sessions):
• 75 EUR for 3 hours of pottery on the wheel
• 75 EUR for 3 hours of trimming on the wheel
• 29 EUR for the glazing workshop.

What’s the difference between pottery and hand-building classes?

Pottery: Uses an electric wheel for symmetrical pieces.
Hand-building: Clay shaping by hand – more creative and organic forms.
Choose based on what you want to make.

Can I make an extra piece?

Courses are designed for one piece. But for €12, you can have extra pieces glazed and fired.

Can I bring my own snacks or drinks to class?

Yes! You can bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

I'm not happy with how the glaze turned out on my piece. Is it possible to reglaze it, or receive a refund or reimbursement?

We understand that glaze results can sometimes be surprising, but reglazing high-temperature fired pieces is not possible, and we do not offer reglazing or deglazing services.

Glazing in pottery is an inherently variable process and cannot be fully controlled or replicated exactly. Even when the same glaze, clay body, and firing schedule are used, the final outcome can differ from piece to piece. Many factors influence the result, including kiln placement, temperature fluctuations during firing, glaze thickness, how the glaze interacts with the clay, and the overall kiln atmosphere. These variables are a natural part of working with handmade ceramics.

Because of this unpredictability, glaze appearance is not considered a defect. For this reason, we do not offer refunds, reimbursements or remakes based on glaze results or personal preference.
