In the Clay Club Explorers course, you will immerse yourself in the creative and exciting world of clay! Over the course of 12 weeks, you can experiment, shape, carve, paint, and glaze—and discover how many ideas can be brought to life through your imagination and your hands.

Each week has a new theme: we shape bowls, animals, fantasy creatures, or little houses, decorate the clay with patterns, and even create self-portraits. At the end of the semester, family and friends are invited to a small exhibition where all the young artists can proudly present their work.

Weekly Program:
1. Welcome, Clay Explorers!
Get to know the clay and the tools in the studio and create your very first little pinch pot. Feel how alive clay becomes in your hands.

2. When Magic awakes to life.
Using the pinching technique, we’ll make cups, bowls, and small vessels — all without a pottery wheel!

3. Swirls and Sculptures
Build tall towers, totems or playful fantasy trees using the coil technique but we focus on the height of the pieces.

4. Adventures with Plattern.
Discover how to work with clay slabs and create treasure boxes, containers or tiny houses.

5. Animals and Pets in Clay.
Sculpt your favorite animal or invent a new one! We’ll work with different forms and learn how to make our creatures look alive.

6. Japanese Carving Art and Wabi-Sabi Bowls.
Carve into leather-hard clay and explore the beauty of imperfection. Each bowl gets its own character through textures, patterns and natural shapes.

7. My Portrait in Clay.
Create your own face or a small bust and learn how to shape human expressions from clay.

8 Monsters and Fantasy Creatures.
Let your imagination run wild/ We’ll design creatures inspired by dreams, stories or outer space.

9. Cups and Favorite Pieces.
Combine everything you’ve learned to design your own cup or mug — complete with handle, patterns and decorations.

10. Colors and Underglazes.
Bring your creations to life with color! Experiment with different patterns and layering techniques.

11. Glazing your pieces.
The final touch! Learn how to glaze, dip and brush your pieces before they’re fired in the kiln.

12. Clay Celebration and Exhibition.
We’ll end our clay journey with a joyful celebration. Families and friends are invited to visit our small gallery and admire all the finished artworks.

Duration: 12 weeks – one session per week, 90 minutes each
Course Type: Several-week modeling course for children
Level & Age: Beginners, ages 8 and up – no previous experience needed, just bring your imagination
Included: All clay, glazes, tools, kiln firings and materials are provided

Language: The course is held in German. Our instructors also speak English if needed.

Please wear clothes that can get messy. All artworks will be fired in the kiln and can be taken home afterward. Missed sessions can be made up if space allows.
